2016 Good Food Award
Honey Bar Reserve is a unique candy bar in our experience. While handmade, this bar has a clean precision that would make you think it was made in the thousands. Faith has encapsulated in this tiny bar layers of flavors and textures that amazed us. The caramel and nougat take front stage with subtle salts and deep rich chocolate flavors. So many other products use cheap and flawed chocolate which distracts from the confectionary, but this bar is in harmony with its ingredients. We found ourselves dividing the candy bar into small slices and sharing it among our panel members. Both rich and complex, this adult candy will transport you back in time to those blissful memories as a kid.
The Honey Bar Reserve uses all of Bees & Beans best ingredients in their top selling candy bar. Organic Sugar and Dairy, Single-origin Amano chocolate and crystalline flakes of Jacobsen Sea Salt create the layers of Honey Caramel and Hazelnut Nougat.
About the Producer:
Faith Dionne believes in real food, small economies, and a sense of place. In her career as a pastry chef she lived and worked all over the United States. Each town has a unique identity experienced through food. Her current landing spot of Portland Oregon has been a paradise of ingredients and she has grown a food community that celebrates locality. Bees & Beans ingredient-driven candy bar line showcases the Portland region; the bars are handmade in small batches featuring a prized local honey, butter, cream, coffee, berries, mint, walnuts and filberts; the chocolate is an artisan domestic bean to bar chocolate; and the packaging is designed with consideration of the environment. These are candy bars that you can feel great about eating. Andrea Marks has recently taken over ownership of Bees and Beans which is easy to take since she has been in the kitchen making the Honey Reserve Bars over the last year. Welcome Andrea!
